Welcome to Longwater Tai Chi
Longwater Tai Chi (pronounced tai-ji) is based near Salisbury, Wiltshire (UK), and is led by its two principal teachers, Patrick Foley and Jane Launchbury. Our teachings are based on aspects of the Bruce Frantzis Energy Arts® system of internal self-healing exercises.
Feel well and stay fit... in slow motion
Unlike aerobics and most forms of modern Western exercise, Tai Chi teaches you how to achieve robust health through correct body alignments and low impact movements, based most importantly on the 70% Rule. The internal health aspects of Qigong (pronounced chi gung) practised with Tai Chi relieves physical, emotional and mental tension and stress and paves the way to self-healing, reducing your dependence on the overburdened health service. We believe Tai Chi is safe for people of all ages and levels of fitness.
Longwater Tai Chi holds classes and workshops in Wilton, Salisbury and Downton in Wiltshire, each designed to suit your commitment, from "take a dip" drop-in classes to half day workshops to regular short form and long form classes for the serious long term student. We can also cater for private lessons and small groups at your local venue.
Free Tai Chi in the Park
Every WEDNESDAY at 08.15am throughout May and June in the grounds of Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street.
All are welcome to come and join the free Wednesday morning sessions run by Longwater Tai Chi - weather permitting. These gentle exercises are a great way to start your day and learn to relax into wellbeing. Tai Chi is sometimes described as the perfect exercise. It originated in Ancient China and its smooth, flowing movements are still practised daily by many millions of people. Tai Chi and associated Qigong (pronounced chee gong) exercises have been used for thousands of years to assist healing, prevent illness, improve balance, reduce stress and increase wellbeing. The morning exercises in the park introduce beginners to the fundamentals of tai chi and qigong and no experience or special clothing is needed. If you'd like to find out more, call Jane or Patrick on 01725 514546.
Year of the Water Dragon
The Year of the Water Dragon is a special type of energy that only occurs every 60 years...
What our students think...
One of the things we are always interested in hearing about is what people who do Tai Chi and qigong personally get out of it, so we asked our students to write some comments about their experiences. Click here to find out more...
Tai Chi in the News
TIME magazine has called Tai Chi the “Perfect Exercise.” Western medical research studies confirm what hundreds of millions of tai chi practitioners have experienced themselves: tai chi improves health, reduces stress, and mitigates the effects of aging.
