Longwater Tai Chi - Practice Tip
Every month we intend to post a little tip that may help you with your Tai Chi or Chi Gung practice.
Discover the ground below your feet
It is quite amazing how much of our lives are spent completely oblivious of our feet, and the function they perform in our daily routines. Enclosed in fabric and an assortment of second skins, your feet are easily forgotten - yet without them we cannot stand up to look out on the world unaided.
Try to pay a little more attention to your feet, when you are next standing in a queue, or going for a walk. Notice the pressure on the soles on your feet, and how that is affected as you transfer weight. Become aware of the sensations the ground below your feet is sending back to you as you stand or walk - hardness, softness, rejecting or accepting. Keep your focus on your feet and you may notice with some practice that your legs will become more alive and springy.
And whenever you have the chance - get naked... walk barefoot and rediscover the ground below your feet!
